Bake your favorite cake or tart and let it cool. 2. Level the surface of the cake, tart, or muffin. 3. Apply the desired icing, such as chocolate or sugar icing, then place the cake band on top while the icing is drying. Press it down several times if necessary, especially at the edges. When using whipped cream, pudding, or cream, apply the decoration half an hour before serving. Do not apply jelly or jam directly underneath the cake decoration; apply it only to the baked item.
