Description

  • Six 75 cl bottles of Franois de la Cuve Signature red wine from Domaine Figuire, 2019 vintage.
  • Franois is named after the estate's director.
  • Tasting notes: deep red color; expressive nose with black fruit and blackberry aromas; silky, fresh palate with fine tannins and a spicy finish.
  • Serve at 1416C with grilled meat, meat cooked in sauce, or refined soft cheese.
  • Grape varieties: Syrah, Cabernet, and Mourvdre.
  • Terroir: a blend of two distinguished terroirsLa Londe, with its schist soils, and Barbeiranne in Pignans, in the Var's inland valley, with clay-limestone soils.
  • Vinification: grapes are destemmed; the harvest is fermented in temperature-controlled tanks for 14 days, followed by traditional fermentation at 25C. Regular pumping over and aging on fine lees. Forty percent of the blend is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. Blending and bottling take place in September.
  • The Figuire estate comprises 125 hectares of vineyards across two terroirs: La Londe-les-Maures near the sea and Pignans in the heart of the Massif des Maures valley.
  • The estate brings together 10 grape varieties to create its distinctive wine style. Magali, Delphine, and Franois now lead the estate, succeeding their father Alain, who acquired the Saint-Andr de Figuire estate in 1992.
