BURG's Indonesia Flores Bajawa coffee is a medium-bodied coffee that is dry-processed, or "natural," and is ideally suited to filter brewing and fully automatic coffee machines thanks to its fresh, fruity character. The island of Flores is also known as the island of the Komodo dragon. This animal is as extraordinary as the island itself. The growing region is located near the town of Bajawa, on Mount Inerie in Ngada Province. All Flores Bajawa Arabica coffees are organically grown without the use of chemicals on very fertile, mineral-rich soil. As in other coffee-growing regions in eastern Indonesia, Flores produces highly aromatic coffee distinguished by its distinctive fragrance. By cultivation volume, Indonesia is a small but high-quality coffee-producing country. Harvest volumes do not match those of Sumatra. Coffee production in Bajawa is carried out by smallholder farmers whose farms range from 1 to 1.5 hectares. The coffee cherries are hand-picked during the harvest season from June to September.
