Origin: The Banfi winery is nestled between the Orcia and Ombrone rivers, south of Montalcino, in a Tuscan wine-growing region known worldwide for its unique tradition and quality. The estate covers approximately 3,000 hectares, of which 970 hectares are planted with vines. More than 150 hectares of this vineyard area are planted with the noble Sangiovese Grosso variety. This is one of the reasons Castello Banfi is considered one of the largest and most respected producers of Brunello. In addition to its top wines Brunello, Sumus, and Excelsus, Banfi offers a broad range of less exclusive wines, from typical Chianti to international Chardonnay. The winery is equipped with more than 300 stainless steel tanks and the latest technology. The storage facilities and cellars contain more than 2,000 barriques and large wooden casks, primarily made of Slovenian oak, intended for Brunello aging. The storage capacity is 12 million liters. The winery is managed in its second generation by Cristina Mariani, daughter of founder John Mariani. Together with her team, she succeeded in placing the winery among Italys top wineries.
