Depending on the subsequent use of the waterfowl, the follow-up feeding is determined. It is crucial whether it is purely maintenance feeding or if the young animals are to be fattened. The duration of the deuka goose and duck starter is primarily oriented around this. For pure maintenance feeding, the transition to deuka goose/duck feed occurs after the 6th week. If the young animals are then to be fattened, deuka goose/duck feed is used for geese starting in the 4th week, and for ducks even as early as the 3rd week. The duration of fattening for ducks depends on the sex of the animal, typically lasting about a week longer for males (drakes). For geese, the fattening duration is determined by the fattening system, which includes fast fattening (9 weeks), intensive fattening (16 weeks), and pasture fattening (approximately 30 weeks).
