Eleutherococcus senticosus is a small, woody shrub from the Araliaceae family native to Northeast Asia. It is commonly known as devil's bush, Siberian ginseng, or eleuthero. The scientific name Eleutherococcus, from Greek, means free-berried, while senticosus, from Latin, refers to something thorny or full of brushwood or thorns. The root is a useful part of the plant. To prepare as tea, steep one teaspoon of the root in a cup of boiling water for 10 minutes. Strain and drink up to three times daily.
