Endofalk is used to cleanse the bowel in preparation for a colonoscopy. Thorough bowel cleansing is necessary before a colonoscopy can be successfully performed. Endofalk is a mixture of various salts with macrogol for preparing an isotonic solution. Drinking the solution induces diarrhea, which ensures effective bowel cleansing. The balanced addition of salts to the drinking solution largely prevents electrolyte shifts in the body. Each sachet of Endofalk powder contains 52.500 g macrogol 3350 (polyethylene glycol), 1.400 g sodium chloride, 0.185 g potassium chloride, and 0.715 g sodium bicarbonate, as well as flavoring agents, and is dissolved in 500 ml of water. The solution has an agreeable orange/passion fruit flavor. Dosage and method of administration: The total amount required for complete bowel cleansing is 34 liters. Prepare the solution fresh before use and drink it in portions. The contents of two sachets make 1 liter of ready-to-drink solution. Dissolve 2 sachets of Endofalk in lukewarm water and then make up to 1 liter. Shelf life after preparation: 3 hours at room temperature or 48 hours in the refrigerator. Drink one glass (200300 ml) every 10 minutes, or 1 liter per hour, until the entire amount has been consumed or the rectal discharge is clear. The solution is taken either at least 4 hours before the colonoscopy, on the evening before, or partly on the evening before and the remainder on the day of the procedure. The appropriate method depends, among other things, on the time of the colonoscopy and should be discussed with a doctor. Nasogastric administration, that is, administration through a feeding tube passed through the nose, is possible. No solid food should be consumed for at least 23 hours before taking Endofalk.
