The Exo Terra Rain Forest substrate is a 100% natural, biodegradable terrarium substrate made from a mix of beach pine and peat moss sourced from sustainable cultivation. This decorative substrate is ideal for naturally planted terrariums housing moisture-loving reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates from tropical forests. The substrate is enriched with small particles of peat moss, enhancing its water retention capabilities, while the rot-resistant beach pine prevents rapid decomposition in humid environments. It regulates humidity naturally by absorbing and slowly releasing moisture, with hygroscopic properties maximized by the addition of natural peat moss. Proper humidity levels support breeding and help prevent respiratory infections. The unique size and shape of the bark particles combined with natural peat moss allow for frequent watering of plants and promote healthy root growth through good aeration. Exo Terra Rain Forest is heat-treated to avoid bacterial contamination.
