Product description The first mobile designed by the Flensted family. In 1953, Christian Flensted carved three storks from wood as a gift for his daughter. It is said that this mobile has magical powers, so anyone wishing to have a child might consider hanging these lucky storks above the bed. Brand description Flensted Mobiles is a small family business in Frederiksminde on the Danish island of Funen. When it comes to mobiles, however, the company is a major player and is one of the world's leading providers of these balanced decorative pieces. Unusually for a Danish company, its export share is very high, at over 90%. Christian Flensted founded the mobile brand in his own home in 1956. He was both an entrepreneur and an artist. Balancing the mobiles so that they retain their characteristic light and floating appearance is particularly challenging. For this reason, Christian designed almost all of the mobiles himself. Later, the company moved to an old school in Frederiksminde, where it remains today. In the 1970s, his son took over the management of the mobile makers on Funen. The family still lives and works in the old and beautiful school building. The suspension systems and some decorative elements are made there, along with administration, material ordering and storage, shipping, and design. The small works of artwhich can sometimes be very largeare assembled by many home-based craftspeople on Funen. They also pack the finished mobiles in attractive gift boxes. From the old school, they are shipped all over the world.
