The oil is particularly suitable as a dip and for preparing stir-fried dishes and spicy noodle dishes. Lee Kum Kee In 1888, restaurant owner Lee Kum Sheung accidentally discovered oyster sauce in southern China when he overcooked an oyster soup and it thickened into a delicious sauce. Fascinated by its flavor, he began selling it as "oyster sauce." This marked the beginning of Lee Kum Kee, the company that today produces authentic Chinese sauces and seasonings.
