Fat transfer, also called fat grafting or lipomodelling, is a cosmetic procedure in which fat is removed from one part of the body and introduced into another, such as the breasts or buttocks. The procedure involves removing fat using liposuction techniques, preparing the fat by centrifugation to separate it from blood and other fluids, and injecting the processed fat. It may take several months for the full effect of the procedure to become apparent. Keep in mind that your body may reabsorb some of the fat, and recovery can take up to 3 months. Your surgeon may recommend wearing a compression garment and a postoperative bra. The area from which the fat was removed requires compression, while the area into which the fat was injected does not. For this reason, we offer buttock fat transfer garments with an open buttock area or thin mesh in that area. For breast fat transfer, we recommend choosing a larger postoperative bra size, as the breasts require support and stabilization.
