Modern, complex, and exceptionally well made: Carlos Falcs Dominio de Valdepusa Petit Verdot. It is one of the few single-varietal Petit Verdot wines in the world. Carlos Falc, the Marqus de Grin, recognized the potential of Petit Verdot in Spain and produced this single-varietal wine near Toledo. The Dominio de Valdepusa Petit Verdot displays an incredibly deep purple color in the glass. Smoky aromas come through on the nose, with cranberry flavor notes on the palatetypical characteristics of this noble grape variety. This complex red wine can be described as dense and highly concentrated in flavor. Dominant fruit aromas, such as wild raspberries, stand out. Rich tannins and juicy fruit harmonize with an intense oak note. The finish is long and wonderfully persistent. For the April 2010 issue of Robert Parkers The Wine Advocate, Jay Miller tasted the wines from Carlos Falcs Pagos de Familia winery. He rated the 2005 Petit Verdot very highly, awarding it 93 out of 100 points. The original text reads: The 2005 Petit Verdot is a bit more complex, richer, and more structured.
