Forest floor bedding is a natural and sustainable alternative. It consists of bark, compost and wood components that are mixed homogeneously, making it 100% natural. The forest floor contains various microorganisms that immediately break down urine, eliminating odors naturally. Its inherent moisture binds dust, making this bedding ideal for allergy sufferers and gentle on the respiratory tract. The forest floor also provides a soft surface for animals, keeps them cool in summer and warm in winter, and has a pleasant scent. Another advantage is that it has a neutral pH value and is peat-free, so it can later be used as humus fertilizer in the garden. Application: For a minimum area of 0.5 m per animal, the base bedding should always be at least 8 cm deep so that the forest floor functions properly. If the bedding is too shallow, the forest floor can only break down urine to a limited extent. The base bedding must never be replaced completely, but additional bedding can be added once a week as needed. The bottom layer of the forest floor should not be disturbed and should be left to rest. Approximately 40 L of base bedding with a depth of about 8 cm is required for 0.5 m. After one to two weeks, the base bedding settles by approximately 12 cm. Manure should be removed daily, for example with a bedding scoop or cat-litter scoop, and the top layer should be leveled. If the top layer hardens, it can be loosened superficially. Urine should be able to reach the lower layer. Wet areas do not necessarily need to be removed. If the forest floor becomes too wet, the wet areas can be removed and fresh forest floor bedding added. Storage: Store the forest floor in a dry place with the bag open and protected from direct sunlight. 25 L of forest floor bedding weighs approximately 7 kg.
