Propolis is also known as bee resin or bee glue. It is the resinous secretion of the buds of various deciduous trees, collected and processed by worker bees in their pollen baskets. The bees initially use it as a defense against intruders, heat, cold, and rain, as well as to seal the honeycomb and cracks in the hive. Once inside the hive, the bees add saliva, pollen oil, and beeswax to the brownish, sticky substance and thoroughly chew it. As a result, propolis contains more than 150 compounds. It is the strongest known natural antibiotic. Ingredients: Propolis ethanol extract; active-ingredient carrier: macrogol; coating agent: gelatin (bovine); humectant: glycerin; purified water. Manufacturer/importer: eltabia GmbH, Mnsterstrae 111, 48155 Mnster, Germany.
