sera Phyto med Protazid is a plant-based water treatment containing highly effective quinine (as hydrochloride) derived from cinchona bark. It can be used to treat ichthyophthiriasis in freshwater and saltwater fish, as well as other single-celled skin parasites like Ichthyobodo sp., Chilodonella sp., or Piscinoodinium pillulare. Ornamental fish suffering from velvet disease or anemone fish disease can also be successfully treated with sera Phyto med Protazid. While the product is well tolerated by ornamental fish, snails, invertebrates, and algae may react sensitively to it.
