Triops Granarius starter culture Triops Granarius are among the most widespread Triops in the world. They inhabit three continents: Europe, Africa, and Asia. This enables them to live at temperatures ranging from 22C to 27C. In Asia, Triops Granarius primarily inhabit rice fields, where they thrive. They have a hand-drawn-like pattern on their shell. Their tail is noticeably longer than their shell. A special characteristic of Triops Granarius is that the eggs laid by the females in the sand are initially worthless. No Triops Granarius nauplii hatch from these cysts unless they have been fertilized by a male. Most Triops species do not require fertilization by a male because the females can reproduce on their own. Granarius is different: the activity of both sexes is required to produce a viable Triops egg. Fortunately, the proportion of males among Granarius is relatively high at around 40%, giving many eggs a good chance of being fertilized. Triops Granarius are considered very exotic Triops because they are not readily available in the trade. Their tolerance of varying temperatures makes them well suited to hobby breeders in Europe.
