Extreme heat can melt latex, including heat from radiators and candles. 3. Sunlight causes discoloration. Do not expose latex to sunlight for extended periods. 4. Water and high humidity can damage and discolor latex. Keep it dry. 5. Metal, including pennies, can leave stains on latex. Keep latex away from metal. 6. Sharp objects, including long fingernails, can easily cause holes or tear the latex garment. 7. Sweat can damage latex over time. Keep it clean. 8. Leather can also damage and weaken latex. Washing latex Fill a bucket with lukewarm water, add one or two drops of baby shampoo, and wash the latex in it. Then rinse it thoroughly with fresh water so no shampoo remains. Hang it on a wooden or plastic hanger and allow it to dry inside and out. Latex storage Store latex in a dry, dark place protected from sunlight.
